Tilted Axes
electric guitar, 10 ppl
Tilted Axes: Music for Mobile Electric Guitars
1. Tilted Axes is a musical project created by composer Patrick Grant.
2. Tilted Axes is a procession of electric guitarists who wear mini-amps.
3. Tilted Axes can perform anywhere there are people, excelling in untraditional venues.
4. Tilted Axes’ roster of musicians can change from performance to performance, city to city.
5. Tilted Axes’ musicians learn a common repertoire created by diverse composers and rehearse it in workshops.
6. Tilted Axes performances are free to the public and are supported through institutional and/or private donations.
7. Tilted Axes takes on aspects of spectacle informed by municipal band tradition, avant-garde theater, and world music.
8. Tilted Axes takes music out into the world and seeks transformative projects meant to change community conversation.
9. Tilted Axes is an apolitical organization, but it does support science, arts programs, and renewable energy whenever possible.
10. Tilted Axes works best when it is part of something bigger than itself i.e. festivals, exhibitions, community initiatives, astronomical events.
Ten Year Anniversary - Tilted Axes: Music for Mobile Electric Guitars – Tilted@10
Combining the energy of alternative rock, the creative discipline of theater, and the experimental spirit of the downtown NYC arts scene, Tilted Axes is both a processional event, and an ensemble of mobile electric guitarists.
Inspired by his background in vanguard theater work and street performance, classically-trained post-rocker Patrick Grant created Tilted Axes in 2011 as a way of untethering the electric guitar from stage amps to bring live music directly to its audience over three continents in its decade-long history.
Tilted Axes cuts musical pathways through the urban landscape, turning neighborhoods into sonic narratives. As a form of street theater, the ensemble brings potent, ecstatic riffs, and an element of surprise, to an unsuspecting public – the best audience of all.

Now it their 42nd year and under the direction of Marita Begley, the Lesbian and Gay Big Apple Core Marching Band is thrilled to be here at the Village Halloween Parade! Although 2021 saw the band in just one other parade - the Hometown Heroes in July - the lack of marching hasn't kept this marching band from bringing the sound of love and joy to the people of New York, performing in over 15 events since May. The band also had the honor of representing LGBTQ+ Pride at the special Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in 2020 and is looking forward to ALL the parades in 2022...especially Halloween!

The TailSlayers
50 Dancers total.
20-30 dancing dead mermaids and about the same amount of dead seamen!
Introducing The TailSlayers, a blood thirsty, siren inspired dance troupe. Their more friendly alter ego, The TailShakers, perform annually in The Coney Island Mermaid Parade, Rockaway's Poseidon's Parade, The NYC PRIDE March, and of course, The NYC Halloween Parade. Their roots come from New Orleans parade culture, with a special shout-out to their NYC predecessor, The Sexcamaids. With fun, sassy, and at times, comical choreography, The TailShakers use dance to let loose, laugh out loud, and express themselves, while also creating community. Tonight, in full killer siren regalia, they present a powerful crew of fierce, enchanting sirens, gearing for their last kill, as they cast their TailSlayer spell on the city of Manhattan.

Since 2004, we have celebrated our combined love of gore and Michael Jackson by performing the infamous Thriller dance in the Greenwich Village Halloween Parade. We are between 17 and a million years old, and our dance experience ranges from novice to professional. We eat brains, grrrrrrrrrowl and bite, but most importantly, we boogie.
This Halloween, leave your mundane human life behind and transform into a rotting, dancing cadaver. After studio rehearsals, outdoor practices in Central Park, and zombie makeup lessons, you'll be hungering for brains in no time.

Burning Man Vehicle
Ryan C. Doyle
CarCroach-A Motor City Survivor, Built for Black Rock
Many automotive manufacturers purport to have iconic status, but few works of mobile art can credibly claim to be at the center of a genuine movement. Made famous in the wake of the protests in the tumultuous summer of 2020, this cockroach mutated vehicle was captured rolling down an avenue in Detroit, a Bruno Furlan house track bumping out of concert-quality loudspeakers mounted on a road-registered and legal 2004 Honda Civic EX, surrounded by a diverse crowd all chanting a message as immediate as it was infectious.
As the fortunate early viewers first encountered this genuinely captivating vehicle in a viral Twitter post that has now been made private, the accompanying message was overwhelmingly positive: “Detroit is beautiful.” A sentiment impossible to argue with, for this is another example of Detroit having a history of translating moments that should be painful into undeniable beauty. Motown is evidence of this. So, too, is Techno – a movement echoing the machine-like drum of the assembly line, now popular worldwide.
From the found art origins of its “Detroitus” exoskeleton accessories, which earned this example its nickname of #Carcroach, and built in a modern studio located at the original Lincoln Motors facility in Detroit, this mutant vehicle has driven cross-country to several Burning Man events, and its creator, Ryan C. Doyle, attests it is “well-known to tow other Mutant Vehicles back to their camps in the harsh and dusty environment of Black Rock City.” This is an example of Detroit-built history as salient as any vehicle shown in The Henry Ford Museum; perfectly suited to broadcast a loud message of peace on the Playa and beyond.

The CPDSA acts as a liaison between the skaters who enjoy attending the events and the City Agencies.
During warmer months, the City also hosts large events that preempt The Skate Circle. The CPDSA communicates those dates to the Skating Community so that there is no conflict or disappointment for the Skaters.

Staten Island Paramount Theater "Parade Float" participates in numerous annual parades across the five boroughs of NYC. Providing a different themed decorated float with live entertainment. It is an honor to continue our 4th consecutive "NYC Village Halloween Parade," one of the greatest parades we partake in. This year's float theme is "Scary Games," with live performance by Peter Baron's "Vampire Rock Opera."
Peter Baron ,born in Greenwich Village NYC, was a guitarist with Leslie West and Corky Laing of Mountain in The Wild West Show and is most influenced by guitar-based rock bands of the 70's and 80's. He toured and recorded with rock singer Joe Lynn Turner (Rainbow, Deep Purple,Ingwie Malmsteen) and played along side Corky Laing in a band called "K2 THE MOUNTAIN"
In addition to a "21-city tour of Finland performing for the Paul McCartney's Breast Cancer Foundation, he's graced the stages of Carnegie Hall and venues across the globe.
Racking up many studio albums during his career, he currently still performs his self written and produced "VAMPIRE" The Rock Opera and "ThunderFarm."
Peter Baron & his band featuring Chris Tristram on bass, Paul Morris on keys & Christopher Mangan on drums, along side singers Doli Grace & Catherine LaRocca, Johnny Collins aka the Staten Island clown and Parade Float Producer Peter Lisi, are all excited to perform at this years NYC HALLOWEEN PARADE playing to millions world wide.

New Beginnings Drum & Bugle Corps
Brass band
Bio;
We are New Begining's... an eclectic bunch of weekend warrior musicians. the group itself has been around for a few years... a bunch of
Drum & Bugle corps members ...from several other groups... who when not marching with those other bands, we try to do our own thing as we try to help bridge and better the community.
Most of us horn players are from the Westchester Brassmen out of Harrison, NY...Drummer's hail from Staten Isl and Harlem youth groups. NB's are members who reside closer to the city...and what with NY always having something going on...and as we love to play ... well, we've marched Staten isl., in Brooklyn, Manhattan, Harlem for the African American day parade as well as some smaller one's, several CT parades such as Barnum Fest .. and with the ever extravagantly fun Village Halloween parade.
We started out with practices on week nights in Harlem between the Armory and park on 138 st... on the streets... where people, as they walked by got to enjoy our sounds. We now have a home of sorts out of the Wadleigh HS in Harlem and have collaborated with the schools drum program. we have reached out to the community to bring in kids to teach and one day join in as we hope to be around for a few seasons. Even thru this pandemic, we hope to attract and draw in more enthusiastic people... young and old. With a zest to put out our talent for everyone to enjoy.
We range from ages 16 to 50 plus.. an assortment of brass horns, around a dozen total at any given time and same in drums. Again, our passion is to play.. music we enjoy... put it out there and see the smiles.
We welcome anyone with the same lust of music to come and participate and be part of the comeradery.
